My Projects

These are the things I have built — 25 of them. The AI work comes first: the projects I built whenever I had an idea worth chasing. After it is the engineering and research that came before any of it, and the journals I have written. The recent software runs on one VPS I own end to end: DNS, TLS, routing, sign-in, storage and backups; Python standard library and SQLite, no third-party packages. Most of it is private, so what follows is what is inside, and every number here is one you can hold me to.

Engineer & Researcher — earlier work

Before any of this involved AI. The storage, telecom and systems work, and the university research, that everything above is built on. Dates and team sizes are from my own records; these are described, not screenshotted, because the software was my employers' and the research is a decade old.

Embedded VNX (eVNX)

EMC · 2012–15

VNX and VMAX in one platform, at EMC

Team of 20

  • Combined two storage lines so customers stopped paying for and maintaining duplicate hardware.
  • Built NAS features in Eiffel, Java and Perl, and ran release engineering while the team was still in start-up mode.

AntNet

B.Tech · final year

Ant-colony routing, measured against OSPF

Team of 4

  • Implemented AntNet, an ant-colony routing algorithm from Marco Dorigo's work, in OMNeT++.

Journaling is the cheapest thinking instrument I know. Write a goal down and it stops being a feeling you can quietly revise and becomes a record you can be held to — which is exactly why most people never start: a vague intention can never be missed, and a specific one can. All three of these are built on the Ivy Lee method, a rule from 1918 simple enough to actually keep: decide the few things that matter tomorrow, put them in order, and work them in that order. Three are published and in other people's hands; the fourth is being written.
